Alocasia Black Velvet Gold Corm

Alocasia Black Velvet Gold is a striking variegated form of the beloved Alocasia reginula, prized for its ultra-dark, velvety leaves splashed with bold golden-yellow variegation and traced with pale silvery veins. The near-black, almost suede-like foliage gives this variety its signature “black velvet” appearance, while the gold sectors add rarity and visual contrast that make it a standout collector’s piece. It stays relatively compact and slow-growing, making it well suited to terrariums, cabinets, and other high-humidity indoor environments. As with other Alocasias, it grows from a central corm and prefers bright, indirect light, chunky well-draining aroid mix, consistent moisture, and warm, humid conditions. Variegated specimens can be more delicate and slower to establish, so stable growing conditions are recommended.
